What is Crime Stoppers?
| Crime Stoppers is a local non-profit community action program that relies on information from concerned citizens about crimes. The information assists in arrests and convictions. This method ensures anonymity for the caller and provides a reward when the tip results in an arrest or conviction. |
Do I have to provide my name at anytime?
| No. At no point will you be asked to provide your name. All of our calls are confidential. Your call goes directly to an answering service (not in our area). The service then forwards the tip to local law enforcement. |
How do I get paid if I don’t give my name?
| You are given a confidential number. You use this number to check on the status of your information. If your information results in an arrest or conviction of criminal charges, arrangements are made for you to receive your reward in cash at a confidential location. |
Can I email a tip?
If you have a tip, please call our hotline at 229-436-TIPS (8477). We have no way to protect the anonymity of a person who submits a tip through email.
How do I get my reward?
Call back 30 days after you are given your confidential number. If you are eligible for a reward, the operator will assist on how to claim your reward.
How is the reward amount determined?
| The Board of Directors determines the value of the tip on a case-by-case basis. The rewards vary from $50-$1,000. |
Where does the reward money come from?
Reward money comes from donations made by local citizens and businesses who are concerned about crime. The Crime Stoppers board also has annual fund raising events. You do not have to wear a badge or gun to fight crime. Make a donation today, contributions are tax deductible.
